Kicking & Screaming @ IMDB
Synopsis:
When Phil Weston (Will Farrell) gets the opportunity to coach his son’s soccer team, he’s gets the chance to prove he’s nothing like his overbearing and belittling father. Phil quickly loses himself in the stuggle to win as we see that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Review:
Everything I heard and read about this movie said that it wasn’t going to be good. It didn’t do that well at the box office and most people that saw it said it wasn’t any good. Personally, its tough to pass up a Will Farrel movie, regardless of what people say about it. I’m happy to report that everyone was wrong, at least in my opinion. I got a kick out of this movie, no pun intended.

The Fog @ IMDB
Synopsis:
A quiet coastal town is terrorized by a mysterious fog that seems to have a life of its own. Vengence is in the air as ghosts come to claim what is theirs from the descendents of thier murderers. This is a remake of the classic 1980 horror flick John Carpenter’s The Fog.
Review:
This movie was an utter disappointment. I didn’t have high hopes when I went to see it, but I did have some. There is a long list of things that were wrong with this movie, and a very short list of things that were right. The plot can’t be criticized that much, though it was changed from the original which I don’t think helped the movie at all. Of course the biggest problem was pretty simple: it wasn’t scary. I remember seeing the original, and being afraid. Of course I saw it as a child, which makes a difference I’m sure, but I would expect the new version to at least have some shock value.

This review is a little overdue, but better late than never. Anna Nalick preformed live at the 9:30 Club in norther Washington D.C. on Tuesday October 11th. The opening act was a group called Blue Merle. Now this review is a supposed to be about the show I saw, but it will be difficult not to make it a review of her debut album Wreck of the Day. Either way, I have positive feelings about both, but the two have very different aspects that make them good.

Serenity @ IMDB

A small agile little ship with a crew determined to survive and reveal the truth. This is the continuation of the short-lived sci-fi series Firefly(2000/01).
Review:
I’m going to start off this one by saying that I went in with low expectations, but came out pleasantly surprised. It had everything it needed to make it a good movie, but it fell short of a great movie. I was going to give it three out of five stars, until somebody pointed out that relative to other recent space operas (i.e. the Star Wars prequels), it stood out. I have to wonder if I would have thought more of it had I watched the show, but I’ll leave that for later.
